Nostradamus has been transferred to the care of leading South Australian trainer Phillip Stokes for his 2016 campaign and has been confirmed in the 2016 RN Irwin Stakes field.

Posting three wins and two minors through seventeen career starts so far, Nostradamus posted a number of commendable results for Team Hawkes, particularly through the 2014 edition of the Spring Carnival in which he won the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) and finished second to Brazen Beau in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) most notably.

Having placed sixth in the Listed Manihi Classic (1100m) in his first start for Stokes on April 9th, the son of Medaglia D’oro will leave from barrier 9 in the RN Irwin Stakes with Dom Tourneur in the saddle.

Stokes has also confirmed last start winner Runway Star in the 2016 RN Irwin Stakes field.

Darren Weir has been confirmed to launch a two-pronged attack on the feature race after confirming both La Passe and Tuscan Sling in the RN Irwin Stakes field.

La Passe experienced something of a meteoric rise to prominence through the 2015 Spring Carnival and should relish the conditions of the RN Irwin Stakes first-up.

Running fourth in the Racing.com BM78 (1200m) on September 16th, the Street Sense mare produced two particularly impressive efforts to win the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) and Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) in succession.

While failing to fire in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) most recently on October 31st, La Passe has reportedly taken plenty of benefit from her time in the paddock and will be tough to beat in the RN Irwin Stakes, particularly from the ideal barrier 2.

Tuscan Sling carries particularly good form into the RN Irwin Stakes and will leave from the rails draw with in-form apprentice Harry Coffey in the saddle.

Running third in the Jeep 55 Second Challenge Heat 8 (955m) on December 11th, Tuscan Sling returned to winning form in the Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) on Boxing Day.

Returning from a brief freshen-up for success in the talent-rich Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) on February 13th, the daughter of Danehill Dancer placed a close second to subsequent Group 1 champion Azkadellia in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) most recently on February 27th.
